National Sports Talk Radio Host Jim Rome Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary In Syndication

LOS ANGELES, February 22, 2011 – Premiere Radio Networks is proud to announce that 2011 marks the 15-year anniversary of The Jim Rome Show in national syndication. Hosted by one of the most respected voices in the world of sports broadcasting, the program airs live Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - noon PT on 230 radio stations, an all-time affiliate high for the program, and reaches more than two million listeners each week. In his 15th year of syndication, Rome remains committed to his affiliate base as the only national sports radio talk personality broadcasting his program exclusively on the AM and FM dial. As part of the year-long celebration, fans of The Jungle will be treated to special guest appearances, events and promotions. More details will be announced in the near future.

Rome kicked off the anniversary with a live remote from Super Bowl XLV. Broadcasting from Radio Row at the Sheraton Downtown Dallas, he welcomed famous friends from the world of sports, including four-time Super Bowl winner and Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana, Football Hall of Fame quarterback and Denver Broncos EVP of Football Operations John Elway, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl wide receiver Miles Austin, Super Bowl MVP and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms. Photos from the week-long remote are available at www.JimRome.com.

Rome stated, “It’s been an unbelievable 15 years, and I’m extremely proud of my association with Premiere and what we’ve been able to accomplish together.”

“Jim is a one-of-a-kind sports broadcaster and we’re honored to celebrate this special anniversary with him,” stated Julie Talbott, Premiere Radio Networks president, content and affiliate relations. “We’re extremely proud of the continued success of The Jim Rome Show, and look forward to reaching many more milestones together.”

As host of one of the nation’s premiere sports radio talk shows, Rome is known for his aggressive, informed, rapid-fire dialogue. A leading opinion-maker in sports entertainment, he has also established himself as the top choice for athletes and fans when it’s time to know what’s happening beyond the scoreboard. Nationally syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, The Jim Rome Show boasts legions of fans known as the clones who live and breathe for Rome’s “take” on the day’s sports issues. It’s his departure from conventional sports commentary that has resulted in Rome’s unique connection with his loyal listeners – a relationship that has provided many long-term, national sponsors such as AutoZone, Chevrolet Silverado, LegalZoom, 5-Hour ENERGY and Braun Shavers, with direct access to this coveted male demographic.

About Jim Rome
Rome began his radio career at KTMS, Santa Barbara as the “$5 dollar-an-hour” traffic reporter and covered UC Santa Barbara’s sports. He later left KTMS for San Diego’s all-sports station, XTRA Sports 690. It was during a temporary stint on a late-night show for the station that Rome debuted his “smack” (Jungle Glossary term meaning sports talk in a gloating, uninhibited or unbridled manner). The style yielded high ratings, and by acclimation of his listeners, The Jungle was born. In 1996, Premiere Radio Networks acquired exclusive syndication rights to the program, which continues to thrive and grow nationwide.

Rome currently hosts Jim Rome Is Burning, a daily, sports talk television show airing at 4:30 p.m. EST on ESPN. The program, which celebrated its 1,000th episode last fall, originates from Los Angeles and features opinion, Rome’s “rants,” debate and guest appearances by some of the biggest name in sports. Rome previously hosted the popular program The Last Word with Jim Rome, which broadcast nightly on Fox Sports Net for five years, and had a two-year stint hosting ESPN2’s Talk2, a nightly one-hour interview show.

Rome has made cameo appearances alongside Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey in Two For The Money, Adam Sandler in The Longest Yard and opposite Michael Jordan in Space Jam; appeared in a Blink 182 music video; appeared on HBO’s “Arliss;” and released a CD, Welcome to the Jungle, which features memorable sound bites from frequent callers and music regularly used on the radio show.

Rome graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1987, with a degree in Communications. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Janet and their two children. For more information, please visit www.JimRome.com.
