Clear Channel Radio And Relativity Media Partner To Create Unique Integrated Programs For Films

First Collaboration, Limitless, Opens #1 At Box Office, Driven By Innovative Cross-Platform Marketing Campaign

San Antonio, TX and Los Angeles, CA– April 21, 2011 – Clear Channel Communications, the leading media company in America with more reach in the U.S. than any radio or television outlet, and Relativity Media, a next-generation studio that focuses on creating, financing and distributing entertainment content and intellectual property across multiple platforms, announced they have entered into an unprecedented multi-media agreement to promote a number of major film releases over the next 12 months.

KIIS-FM radio show “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” host Ryan Seacrest, in partnership with Clear Channel Radio, helped orchestrate this innovative relationship with Relativity Media, which is designed to drive box office sales and promote upcoming entertainment properties by tapping into Clear Channel’s monthly reach of 237 million in a creative and compelling manner.

The companies officially kicked off their collaboration with the promotion of the film Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro, which finished #1 at the box office during its opening weekend with a 25% lead over that weekend’s #2 film and 43% over the other weekend openers. “For Limitless, we feel the Clear Channel promotion significantly impacted our awareness and helped drive our successful opening weekend,” said Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity Media.

Clear Channel offers an unparalleled variety of cross-platform media assets. For Limitless, the companies leveraged the film's Limitless theme and the star power of Bradley Cooper to serve as a catalyst for interest in the movie. These included custom interviews with exclusive insight into the film; “limitless” music hours that indicated ‘you’re listening to the Z100 limitless music hour sponsored by Limitless’; social media integration on station Facebook pages offering listeners the chance to win Limitless music; rich media overlays featuring Bradley Cooper walking onto home pages to promote the film; countdown clocks both on-air and on-line to provide high frequency reminders to the listeners and more.
The campaign was executed across a broad combination of Clear Channel's assets, including national radio programs like "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" and dozens of top-rated local radio station programs like Boy Toy Jesse's show on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles and Elvis Duran's show on Z100 (WHTZ) in New York. Also included were digital and mobile ad units, digital outdoor billboards in strategic locations around the country like Times Square, and national and local commercial inventory.
Relativity Media provides filmmakers and talent to create exclusive content that will be shared with Clear Channel’s listeners and viewers, both digitally and on-air.

With a national footprint across 150 cities and appealing performance against the coveted 18-34 movie-going audience, Ryan Seacrest also serves as a significant cornerstone to the deal, offering unique multi-media platforms – including “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,” “AT40” and ryanseacrest.com -- which will distribute compelling content featuring A-list Hollywood actors and actresses.

Kavanaugh added, “As the consumer looks more and more to digital and interactive content, Clear Channel’s cross-platform deal is a critical step in providing Relativity a direct link to its movie-going audience. Ryan Seacrest really envisioned this integrated partnership, and brought together all of the Clear Channel assets, people, and venues. Without his leadership, this deal would have never happened.”

“Both Kavanaugh and Seacrest understood immediately the impact of leveraging Clear Channel Radio’s portfolio of media assets and their vision was instrumental in developing this partnership,” said Bob Pittman, Chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms for Clear Channel Radio. “We look forward to developing even more creative campaigns going forward that will drive attendance for Relativity releases.”

“Relativity Media is an ideal partner because of its interesting and compelling content offerings. I think we’ve only scratched the surface on the possibilities of blending between the studios and our digital and terrestrial platforms,” said Ryan Seacrest.
